Hasta La Vista, Baby.

I’m signing off for some time at our cabin in the mountains. I’m in need of some R&R. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will rain and I can sit and close my eyes and listen to it hit like tiny bullets on the metal roof. And the SMELL there when it rains…. Oh I am so hopeful for a storm.

I’m taking a book. Oreos. Uno. My kids. The Mister. The camera will also be going. One thing I’m not taking: my MacBook. (No internet. Heck, there’s not even a phone line or a TV. *sigh* I LOVE that place.)
So, if you attempt to shoot me an email in the next day or two and you don’t get a reply immediately, know that I’ll get back to you.

And now for some housekeeping…

-For my New Mexico clients- thank you for being patient. I’ll get started on editing sessions once we get back to California next week. You’re all wonderful and I’m grateful to have been able to reconnect with so many of you.

-I’ve already officially announced my pregnancy, but I’m making an official announcement of my maternity leave. I will be taking off a few months starting November 1st. We’ll be swingin’ again starting mid-January (actual date depends on how fast baby X decides to sleep through the night!). Will keep you all posted.

-That said, I’m now opening up my schedule and booking portrait sessions as well as last minute weddings (yes, I do get those, and yes, I love elopements!) through October 15th. Read: All holiday sessions must be completed by the 15th of October, and my plan is to have all orders done and shipped back to clients by November first. With school starting up next month, our out-of-town ventures will not be as frequent, so I will be available for more sessions than as of late. Contact me to book your session soon!

So, I want to achieve my goal of blogging every day for a month, and this technically counts for a blog post, but the truth is, I’m up to my armpits in receipts and calculators and tax worksheets from my CPA and we’re trying furiously to have stuff ready for her to file for us this week. So, no real post today. Tomorrow’s will be better! (And I’ll hopefully be in a much happier place in the morning!)

My “baby” turned two this week. Auuuugggg! My life is flashing before my eyes. While I swear it can’t be that two years have already gone by, the truth is, I have a hard time remembering our lives before she joined them. We spent most of the day at the Happiest Place On Earth, even buying a pair of “minnie ears”. We never hunt down the characters to do pictures, but the cute couple walked right in front of us at one point, so I had to get a shot. The rest are just her 2-year portraits. She’s just such an angel, and I’m so grateful that this sweet pea is part of our family! I love you baby girl. Happy birthday to you!

What a fun session! I went with L. to the Claremont Colleges this afternoon. I’ve officially dubbed it the most beautiful area in California and want to move there. Tomorrow. I told JT he needed to start applying for professor jobs there!
L. is due in a few weeks with her forth baby- a GIRL!- after 3 boys. I’m so happy for her, and it was a true joy to go out and photograph her today. She had great clothes (I love the latin-flare!), and the location was perfect. We even shot in the rain for the first 30 minutes! I’m grateful to have had someone so willing to “do whatever”. Congratulations on this sweet new baby, L. I’m so happy for your family!

They called little W. “serious”. I call him calm. This baby is as sweet as can be, and has really fun folks. Part of the reason I love this job is because I get to meet the coolest people! We had a nice time, enjoying a cool evening with clouds. I had a SERIOUSLY hard time choosing which pics to post here. Too many great ones! Hope you guys like them!

We’ve spent a LOVELY weekend in Central Ohio with my dear in-laws. It’s been a very special weekend for them and we hope they know how happy we are to have been able to be here. I had to take the kiddos downtown and snap a few shots- I adore this little town. It is the most quintessential All-American town I’ve ever seen. It’s so beautiful, I sometimes feel like I’m in a dream when I’m here. If you ever happen to be near Columbus, Ohio, take a few hours and drive over to Granville. Well worth the short drive!!
