Just a quick note–
I’ll be out of the office for two weeks. I’ll check emails when I can, but if you email me and don’t get an immediate reply, I’ll get back with you soon! Things will be back in full-swing on Tuesday the 19th, and I’ll have TONS of images to share!

What gentle people. What a soothing atmosphere their home has. They’ve been waiting for little V. for a long time. “I can’t believe she’s here. I just want to stay up at night and stare at her.”, Anne told me.
This is one beautiful baby, and she was a breeze to photograph. Barely a peep came from this tiny girl, and she was so patient with me, letting me turn her this way and that. She will certainly be loved.
A little sneak peek of what we captured on Saturday…
(And, if this post gets 25 comments - post them ABOVE - this sweet family will get a free print on me!)

I’m playing catch-up a little bit. I took these pictures in January when my dearest friend and little sister came to visit with her cute kids. They’ve since moved “across the pond” and I miss her terribly. My niece E. is one of the most beautiful children I know, and so photogenic! And, her hair is to die for.
(And one shot of my sis.)

I didn’t blog yesterday. Bad me. Broke my record, didn’t achieve my goal. Oh well… moving on.
Today was hot here- 90 degrees, my car said at one point (and I know that what my car says is ALWAYS right. Ha.). It was also the day of the airshow. And we happen to live sort of near the airport. My littles were THRILLED to sit out on the driveway and watch the planes fly overhead. Except that we waited and waited (it did finally start, however). Here are some shots of them waiting. Because they’re just dang cute.
And, my intention was to post a bunch of cool pictures of the airshow. Except that right as things started picking up, I had to run off to Rancho Cucamonga for a newborn session (I didn’t mind! She was a gem!). So, I didn’t get any shots of the cool airplanes, but at the bottom of this post, you can see the sweet little thing I DID get lots of pictures of. Her full sneak peek coming SOON!

Not What It Used To Be ~ Orange County Photographer ~ Rachel Clare

I love the outdoors. I really love to camp, but it’s been a while since we’ve been. When my dear friend, Stacey, suggested we show up at their campsite to surprise her husband Chris, who turns 30 this month, we happy agreed. Our kids were beside themselves with excitement. Granted, we’re used to Rocky Mountain camping and this was O’Neill Regional Park outside of Rancho Santa Margarita in Southern CA- we still had a great time (how can you not have a great time when you’re with great friends?).
We finally got the kids down last night around 10:15 (have they EVER been to bed this late?!) and we didn’t retire until 1am. We had the tents, the sleeping pads, the down bags. We were set. Except that my night didn’t go exactly as planned…
In bed at 1:00am, working to get warm until 2:30, out of the tent to use the “facilities” at 2:30, praying to be able to warm up and go to sleep at 2:45, putting children back in their sleeping bags at 4:00 (while my feet were almost numb with cold), tossing and turning with aching back and hips at 5:00, dozing from 5:00-7:00 at which point I awoke with the little man exclaiming, “Hey Mom! Look at that HUGE bug!”.
And while I can’t believe I’m about to type this out, and may erase it and deny it ever existed, I’ve got to admit- an air mattress and extra down comforter may accompany me on my next camping excursion. But I’ll tell you- it was quiet and breakfast was to die for.
So, in the end…
Camping trip: SO fun. Sleeping on the ground: not so much.

We’ve had a long day. Long, as in, we’ve not stopped today. At all. Preschool, 24 Hour Cycle class, the accountant’s office, the doctor’s office, etc. But we’re going camping tonight, and that will be a welcome relief to my crazy day. We’re off to surprise our buddy Chris, who turns 30. His wife, my dear friend Stacey, set this up and we’re excited to surprise him - he doesn’t know we’ll be joining them at the campsite. Because no camping trip is complete without junk food, I’m contributing a birthday cake. Not perfect, but fun.
If you don’t hear from me again, it’s because we’ve decided to leave the craziness of city life and stay forever in the wild backcountry of….Rancho Santa Margarita… ?

It’s not often that I ask my sweet pea if I can take her picture and she obliges. Not often at all. I was fortunate to get an “okay!” today. So there you go- no funny story, no clever anecdote, just some cute pictures of my girl in her cute dress this morning.

I am finishing up editing this session tonight and came across a picture that I love:

Isn’t she sweet? So anxious to meet her baby brother.

So, I want to achieve my goal of blogging every day for a month, and this technically counts for a blog post, but the truth is, I’m up to my armpits in receipts and calculators and tax worksheets from my CPA and we’re trying furiously to have stuff ready for her to file for us this week. So, no real post today. Tomorrow’s will be better! (And I’ll hopefully be in a much happier place in the morning!)
‘Night.
Almost Low-Maintenance ~ Southern California Lifestyle Photographer ~ Rachel Clare

My JT got home this evening from Vancouver (Canada, not Washington), where he’s spent the past few days at a conference. I have, of course, desperately missed adult conversation and was anxious to hear about his presentation, the people he met, what he ate, the accommodations…
He brought me a present. Two, actually. Cadbury Flake bars (oh heavens.) and the soap from his hotel. Because I collect soap from hotels. Because why WOULDN’T you take the soap and shampoo and shower caps from a hotel you paid for? (Quick sidenote: I learned a fantastic use for shower caps from my Mother- because no one uses them for their head anymore, do they? She takes the shower caps from hotels and uses them to cover the leftovers in her fridge. Brilliant, right? Yeah, I know. She’s good. And she’s “green”- she washes them and lets them air-dry and reuses them. So now I do the same.)
Anyway, this isn’t just cheap ghetto soap. It’s a “Soothing Massage Bar with White Ginger Extract” and has little balls on the back side- it sort of looks like a really big, awesome-smelling Lego. Only it’s soap.
So I thanked him, because I like free yummy-smelling soap, and said, “So, you’re place- it was nice?” He responded, “You would have loved it.”, but the emphasis was on the “you” and not the “loved”.
Why is this? Because JT doesn’t care where he stays or sleeps. He slept in a sleeping bag on a floor in this weird little closet area for a year and a half in college. The man DOES. NOT. CARE.
I like to think of myself as fairly low-maintenance. I spend approximately $20 every 3 years on makeup. I get my hair cut once a year and don’t do the whole highlighting bit. I’m okay with stuff like that. (Note to self: make hair appointment. It’s about time.) However, there’s one thing I’m sort of neurotic about: my accommodations. If we’re traveling, I want to spend the extra $30 or $40 bucks and stay at a place that DOESN’T have cigarette burns on the bedspread and nap-nasty carpet. I like places with fluffy white down comforters on the beds. I like carpet that is clean enough that I don’t mind walking around on it with my bare tootsies. I like a tub/shower that is CLEAN, thank you very much. So here I am, proclaiming unapologetically to the world: I am a hotel snob.
There. I said it.
Now check out this place where I’ll be staying in two weeks for a FABULOUS workshop: The Chateau Elan outside of Atlanta. I can hardly wait to get my hands on their soap.
