What a fun session! I went with L. to the Claremont Colleges this afternoon. I’ve officially dubbed it the most beautiful area in California and want to move there. Tomorrow. I told JT he needed to start applying for professor jobs there! 
L. is due in a few weeks with her forth baby- a GIRL!- after 3 boys. I’m so happy for her, and it was a true joy to go out and photograph her today. She had great clothes (I love the latin-flare!), and the location was perfect. We even shot in the rain for the first 30 minutes! I’m grateful to have had someone so willing to “do whatever”. Congratulations on this sweet new baby, L. I’m so happy for your family!

I can’t tell you how much I love overcast skies. They make my job so easy! The heavens blessed us (literally) with clouds today and I enjoyed meeting this family down at the Mission Inn. This is so precious to me that I just had to post it. I’m part of a group where I’ve dedicated myself to taking a self-portrait every day for a year. Today is day 49. And I am utterly in LOVE with these images. I’m already planning on how I can display them in my home… a canvas? A 20×20 crop? This little man holds a massive chunk of my heart.

A few items of business to post here…
First- I’m opening up my New Mexico December sessions. These will be extremely limited (read: only 3 or 4 total) because of the short duration of my trip and wanting to spend time with my own family, so contact me soon if you’re interested in booking a session for December in New Mexico. I’ll be there from December 23rd to January 1st. If you’re interested, we can discuss a date, time and location.
Second- I’ve become concerned about people infringing on copyright issues. All images posted on this blog as well as my website, as well as every other shot I take, belong to me and Rachel Clare Photography. Stealing images from this blog is, (first of all) just plain mean, but also against the law. Those who take images without written permission for their own use, in any way, will be prosecuted.
Third- I only have 2 sessions still available for 2008! Please contact me soon if you’re interested in getting a session in before the end of the year. Once Jan. 1st hits, the 50% off SUPER Special will disappear! I will start model searches in January (and just a heads-up: I’ll be looking for Maternity and newborn multiples- twins or more!). Contact me for further details!
And Forth- I can’t post any boring announcements and copyright warnings without adding something happy. And this, my dear friends, made me very happy today. Just a few shots of my Sweet Pea hanging out, and being willing to let me take her picture. (I had to post both because I just couldn’t decide between the two!!)

It was my absolute pleasure to photograph my friend Elizabeth’s family last night at Crystal Cove State Park near Laguna and Newport. The evening was perfect. The light was perfect. The mood was perfect. The family was perfect. Clothes? Perfect. Hair (even little C’s)? Perfect. I had such fun! This family is gorgeous- inside and out. Elizabeth, thank you for giving me the opportunity to spend the afternoon with your family. I am blessed to count you as a friend!
EDIT TO THIS POST: I’ve had quite a few people contact me after viewing this blog post and say, “This is what I want! This kind of family session I’m looking for!” to which I find the need to reply- “THIS is not so much about me, but it’s about you.” There’s a trick to getting these kind of images out of your session. Ready? Here it is: you must pretend I’m not there. I. AM. NOT. THERE. I’m a little shadow who follows you around with my Nikon and clicks away while you play. That’s what this family did, and the results speak for themselves. I may direct you somewhat, but mostly, I love interaction. So, if you’re looking for images like these, you must loosen up, relax, and HAVE FUN!! (Now, back to the pictures…)

I was truly blessed last weekend to be able to visit the home of the B. family and take some family pictures. These are the first “formal” family photographs taken since S. was two, if I’m not mistaken. He’s now 23. I wish I could convey how wonderful this family is. They’re among the most kind, goodhearted, unpretentious, genuine, lovely people I’ve ever had the pleasure of associating with. Thank you for allowing me into your beautiful home, teaching me about palms, showing me the classic old cars and making me feel like an old friend. You are wonderful, wonderful people.
New Albums! ~ Southern CA Photographer ~ Rachel Clare

I am THRILLED to announce that I’m now selling a new line of albums. I’m so thrilled that I’ve even ordered one for myself! (See all pics below.) These albums are magnificent, truly. All come with a uniquely designed custom image cover, all pages are printed flush and are UV- and luster-coated (creating a protective barrier- your kids can touch their own albums!), it’s water resistant, and it opens up flat. These new albums come in a 9×9 and 12×12 for now (I hear there might be other sizes soon??). They are a lovey addition to any home and are a fantastic way to enjoy more of the beautiful images from your session. Please contact me with any questions or if you’d like your own! I’ll be adding occasional photos of albums I design here in the future (one should be arriving in the next couple of weeks!)

So, I had promised a special a month. Sorry- it’s the 2nd, and I technically should have posted this yesterday….
I’ve decided that this special will extend from now until December 31st. It’s called the Our Economy Is In The Toilet Happy Holidays Special. 
Here’s what you get: for the months of November and December, all Southern California clients will receive half off of all prints and products, excluding the session fee and press printed cards. Note: the session must TAKE PLACE in November or December. A session booked in one of these months for 2009 will not apply. Please contact us for further details, with questions, or to book your session. Spaces are quite limited, and I’ll be away from the office (read: out of town) for a time in December, so call soon to get yourself booked. And continue following the blog- this is where I’ll continue to post contests/specials/announcements!
